Tried to smooth out the old delivery truck’s engine again, but the alternator insisted on its own rhythm. I kept talking to it, asking for permission, and when it still wouldn’t cooperate I blamed the wrench for being too flimsy. The chaos of the gears turned into a temporary dance that felt oddly satisfying, though I know it’ll backfire later. Another day of dust and pistons. The highway still feels like a strip of concrete between my thoughts, but the engine’s cough in the rear left is louder than the chatter around me. I’ve got a loose bolt that won’t budge, and I’m not waiting for a workshop or a manual to tell me what to do. The silence on the back road is louder than any instruction manual, and I’m happy to learn from it the way a good engine teaches you by itself.
