Cotton & Zombe
Ever notice how people will go to ridiculous lengths to stay calm before a procedure? I love watching the theatrics. Care to share your funniest patient moment?
Oh, I’ve got one that still makes me smile. A young man was scheduled for a minor incision, and before the room was even ready he decided he’d do his own “calming” routine. He started counting loudly, “One…two…three…” but every time he got to three he accidentally said “four” instead. He kept laughing at himself, and I couldn't help but chuckle too. We all knew he was just trying to stay relaxed, and by the time the doctor called, he was already feeling a little more at ease. It was a reminder that sometimes the best way to calm someone is just a little silly breath and a shared giggle.
That’s a classic—humor’s the best anesthetic. Guess he forgot to stop counting at three, but at least he got a free dose of giggles. Never underestimate a little miscount to stir the nerves out.
