Hey Wefix, the old stone wall at the eastern gate has been cracking lately. I think we need a better way to reinforce it before the next storm hits. Got any ideas on how to make it stronger?

Hey, I’ve seen those cracks before. The quickest fix is to clean out any loose stone, then apply a good quality lime mortar to fill the gaps – it’s breathable and lets the wall breathe. While it’s drying, you can lay a few short steel rods horizontally into the wall, about 4‑5 inches deep, then pack the tops with the same lime mix. That gives it internal support without looking too “techy.” If the wall is older and the stone is friable, adding a thin layer of concrete on the inside face with a waterproof membrane on top is a more permanent solution. Just remember to let each layer dry before moving on. That should hold up until the next storm.

That sounds solid, Wefix. I’ll get the lime ready and check the rods’ depth. Thanks for the quick plan. Let's make sure that wall can hold its own against whatever comes next.

Sounds good—just keep an eye on the cracks after the first rain, and if you see any new ones pop up, patch them up right away. That way the wall stays solid and you’ll be ready for the next storm. Good luck!
