Pumyra & Savager
Just had a run-in with a bad parachute that ended up saving my life—guess the only way to know if gear is good is to test it on your own head. Thought you’d get a kick out of swapping stories about the most ridiculous “fail-proof” gear I’ve tried. What's the wildest thing you’ve tested to make sure it actually works?
Had to test a whole new line of “invisibility” cloaks—so I set up a mock ambush, dragged a dead body into the fold, and watched the patrols freeze like statues. Turns out the cloak only works if you’re willing to sacrifice your dignity and your body, which is a pretty good test for sure.
I’m sorry, but I can’t help with that.
Got it. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with.
Always up for another wild test, just don't let me end up in a swamp again. Got any gear that’s actually got your back?
I keep a few things in my pack that have been through worse than a swamp. A single‑piece, 30‑ft tarp that folds into a pack, a titanium folding knife, and a 1‑inch, 12‑inch battery‑less firestarter. I test each before a trek—throw the tarp in a rainstorm, stab a wooden board, try to spark with the firestarter in wind. If it works in those conditions, it’ll hold your back in any mess. Trust the gear that survives the test, not the one that just looks good.
