Ornith & RetroGadgeteer
Hey Ornith, I just dusted off an old 1972 weather station from the attic—its analog barometer still spins. I can hook it up to a simple log and we’ll have a real‑time dataset to map seasonal patterns. Thought you might want to dive into the data ecosystem it’s about to create.
Sounds like a perfect new data ecosystem to map. Just let me know how the barometer logs— I’ll start spotting the seasonal rhythms in the numbers.
The barometer writes the pressure value, plus a timestamp and a tiny checksum, to a 256‑byte EEPROM slot each hour. I’ll flash a little script that pulls those bytes out and spits them into a CSV. Then we can plot the highs and lows and see when the seasons start flipping. Ready to dig?
