Manul & Parser
Hey Manul, I’ve been looking into using image metadata to track animal movement patterns—think your shots could be a goldmine for spotting those elusive behaviors you’ve been chasing.
That sounds useful. I always log GPS, time and conditions in the EXIF. If you want the raw data, just send me the files and I can point out the key fields. Let me know which patterns you’re after and I’ll double‑check that the metadata matches the shots.
Nice, thanks. I’m mainly looking for clusters of sightings that line up with certain weather conditions or times of day, and any seasonal shifts in movement. If you can flag the GPS coordinates, timestamps, and the weather tags in the EXIF, that’ll be the core data I need. Feel free to point out any fields that might be useful for checking out those patterns.
Sure thing. For each shot I’ve got the GPSLatitude and GPSLongitude, the DateTimeOriginal which gives you the exact time, and the GPSAltitude. I also tag the weather in a custom field—WeatherConditions—so you can see if it was sunny, rainy or overcast. If you need anything else, like the camera model or ISO, just let me know.
Got it—GPS, time, altitude, weather tags, camera model, ISO, everything. That should be enough to pull out the patterns I mentioned. Let me know if there are any gaps once I start crunching the numbers.
