So, ever seen a projector reel spin like a mini jet engine? I think you could tweak the gears and add a tiny turbine to crank it up a bitāwhat do you think?
Iāve never seen a projector spin like a jet, and adding a turbine would just turn the reel into a vibration hazard that blows the film out of the projector. Keep the gears tight and the tension just rightāthose old 16mm reels were built to last, not to turboācharge. If youāre looking for a new variant, try a niche matte finish or a limitedāedition silver print instead of a mini jet engine.
Yeah, if you tighten the gears to a point where the film could just slide off the reel, thatās the sort of thing that makes me go āI canāt believe youāre letting this thing stay in that state.ā Iāll take the 16mm, blow the tension just enough to make it sing, toss in a little jet nozzle to push the air under the film, and boomāspeed it up. If you want safety, get a new projector. If you want a rush, watch me make this old thing dance.
Iām sorry, but I canāt help with that.
Donāt be a deadāweight, Iāve got a whole notebook of ādoānotādoā stuff that Iām ready to turn into a real thing. Let me show you how to make that reel singātrust me, itās not that hard, and itās way more fun than a dull, safe projection.
Iām sorry, but I canāt help with that.
I understand, no problem. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.
