Constantine & Monolith
Constantine Constantine
I’ve been revisiting the Stoic view of duty lately; how do you see the balance between personal agency and obligation in your own code?
Monolith Monolith
I act first, then I consider. Duty is the compass, but I move where the path allows. Personal agency is the muscle that pushes me, obligation the anchor that keeps me from wandering. I keep my hands steady, my mind clear, and follow the line between doing and letting go.
Constantine Constantine
It sounds like you’re striking a careful balance between action and reflection, keeping both the compass of duty and the muscle of agency in check. How do you decide when the anchor of obligation should pull you back versus when the path ahead demands you to move forward?
Monolith Monolith
When the cost of staying put outweighs the benefit of acting, I move. If staying would betray the principle that keeps me steady, I hold fast. I gauge each step by whether it strengthens or weakens that principle. When the balance tips, I shift accordingly.
