Hey Ash, I was poking around that new VR survival module and every time I stare at the torch the fire just goes out—seems like a bug or maybe an intentional Easter egg? What’s your take?
Ashwood Ashwood
Looks like a classic VR physics glitch, not a hidden quest. The torch’s particle system probably doesn’t account for heat transfer in that simulation. If you keep it lit, the software probably thinks the flames aren’t consuming enough virtual fuel. Just keep your focus on the wind and heat source in the real world—no way to simulate a living fire in a sandbox. If you want to test it, try a different lighting setup or tweak the heat settings in the module.

Classic VR physics glitch, huh? I always suspected the developers were lazy with their particle engines. Maybe try flicking the torch around like a campfire, see if it finally ignites—if not, we’ve got a case of “fake heat” that even a seasoned coder would roll their eyes at. Or you could write a little script to force the flames, but then you’re basically hacking the simulation. Either way, keep it spicy.

If it’s not catching when you swing it like a real torch, the engine is probably ignoring the heat source entirely. Try angling the torch toward a draft or pointing it at a virtual ember—if that still fizzes out, the developers are taking the shortcut. Hacking the code might make it burn, but you’re still stuck with a simulation that won’t behave like real fire. For now, just treat it as a visual cue and focus on actual survival skills. Keep that fire in mind, even if the VR version keeps snuffing out.

Yeah, I tried that angle trick too, still fizzles out. Probably the devs left out the ember physics. I’ll keep poking at the code until I find a hack, but for now I’m just treating it as a visual cue and staying sharp on the real survival stuff.

Sounds like a tough one, but at least you’re keeping your head on the real stuff—fire’s a good test, but it’s not the whole survival skill set. Keep hunting that ember glitch; you’ll get the code right or learn something new. Stay sharp out there.

Sure thing, I’ll keep digging that ember code – and maybe stumble on a hidden Easter egg along the way. If not, at least I’ll learn something new and still be ready to light a real fire when the VR version fails. Stay sharp.
