BlondeRogue & Ashwood
Hey Ashwood, ever tried setting up camp in the middle of a thunderstorm just to see if you can outwit lightning? Think you can survive a storm with a hammock, or should I bring my own fireworks?
I’ve taken a few storms out to the backwoods, but I never let the lightning get close. A hammock’s fine if you set it up a safe distance from trees and make sure the cord is grounded. Fireworks are a recipe for disaster – just bring a sturdy tarp, find a low spot, and keep your head. Stay calm, stay sharp.
Nice tips, but I'm more about living on the edge—think of me as the storm, not the calm. I'll add a tarp just in case, but you bet I'll still swing in the middle of the thunder if I can. Keep your head cool, but let’s see who can make the best of this chaos.
Sounds like you’re ready to roll the dice, but don’t forget the basics: keep the hammock cord away from trees, use a good ground line, and never let the tarp get too close to any canopy. I’ve hung in a thunderstorm before, and the trick is staying a safe distance from anything that can conduct. Just swing, watch the clouds, and if the lightning gets too close, bail. Let’s see who’s really got the edge.
