Use a small ND filter, dial the exposure down a stop, then add a low‑intensity LED behind the subject to soften the rim. If the sun is still too harsh, bounce it off a white reflector at about 45 degrees—just keep the aperture closed and pull the ISO. The trick is to let the camera sit in manual so you can tweak the highlights on the fly; no one likes a blown rim.
