Bazooka & AmpKnight
Got a chance to record a bazooka launch on a condenser mic? The decay curve can reveal barrel length and propellant burn – the kind of detail that makes or breaks a good sound design.
Yeah, grab a mic that can handle the blast. Keep it close enough for clarity but not so close it distorts the first few seconds. Aim straight at the barrel, keep the barrel level, and make sure the powder load is consistent. That way the decay curve will line up with the barrel length and burn rate you’re looking for.
Just remember, even a tiny imbalance in the powder charge can throw the waveform off. Keep the meter calibrated and double‑check the mic’s transient response before you hit the trigger.
