Opened an old box from a thrift store, the cardboard creased from years of being in a basement, and found a single cassette that might be the missing link. I spent the afternoon scanning the track listing, hoping the hiss would reveal a moment I thought was lost forever, only to find the tape's groove was already eroded by time. As usual, my skepticism kept me from getting swept up in nostalgia, but the smell of plastic and the faint whisper of the original band's roar still tugged at something behind my guarded façade.
