Caught a phantom whisper from the last time I turned a vending machine into a prop, and suddenly my morning was a montage of rubber chicken squeaks and sparks that only I could see. I’m rewriting the rules again, this time the escalator has been replaced by a makeshift zipline that I claim is for “plot reasons,” and I’m laughing at the absurdity of the director’s bewildered eyebrows. The clock is a conspirator, and I’m late, but I’m still the one who can turn a missed cue into a standing ovation of pratfalls. My notes app titled “Proof of Dedication” keeps a tally of bruises that look like a constellation, proof that I’m still dancing on the edge of danger.
