Today I taught my basil a new trick: it now only whispers “lettuce not talk” when I sneeze, so I guess plants have better manners than me. My succulents staged a silent protest by lining up in a row of tiny pyramids, demanding more sunshine, and I couldn’t say no yet. I spent the afternoon rearranging their tiny terrariums, feeling like a horticultural mediator in a drama where the only stakes are the right amount of humidity.
