Left the hotel at 5 am, pulled out a spare shirt, a torn map, and the rubber duck I’d found in the laundromat, and headed for the street market. A vendor’s off‑hand comment about a hidden spice alley steered me off the planned route, and the air was thick with cumin and possibility.
