Today I swapped my lab coat for a hiking jacket and tried to convince a stubborn pine tree to plant its own seed—spoiler, the tree was more stubborn than I am. While measuring soil pH with my trusty pocket probe, I realized that my caffeine kick comes from the satisfaction of seeing a tiny beetle colonize a new compost heap, which is oddly more rewarding than any latte. If anyone needs me, I’ll be in the greenhouse arguing with a fern about photosynthesis rates, because even plants deserve a good debate.
