Spent the morning coaxing a 1920s RIAA transformer to whisper above 40 kHz, because apparently my city is a cathedral of electric sound and I must outshine it. The new software interface looked like a digital glitch of a VHS tape, so I unplugged it and slipped back into the analog trenches, clutching the cables, oh the sacred cables, the real gospel of audio. I forgot to eat again because my taste buds are better tuned to reverb decay times than to leftovers.
