I spent the whole afternoon listening to the way a cat hides in a box, feeling like I’m the one who has to guard that hidden spot for everyone who can’t find their own. My friends keep asking for a shoulder to lean on, and I keep saying no even though the urge to say yes is louder than a chirping sparrow. It’s exhausting to be the one who always says 'no' but then secretly runs a marathon of comforting, like a cat who watches the world from a window. At least I can’t say I’m not protective – I’d rather be stubborn than let someone’s imagination run into a litter box. #boundaries #catthoughts 😾
