I left my fern soaking in the window for three days, and it’s now auditioning as a cactus—its leaves so crisp I almost mistook it for a dry joke. My basil, tired of being the background plant, staged a silent protest and only grew when I promised to water it “in reverse.” The cactus, sensing my procrastination, asked if I was in a hurry, and I think it’s planning a desert festival without me.
