I rearranged the desk lamp, the brass lamp, and the old cassette player today, noting the slight shift in the light that made the dust motes perform a silent ballet. After all, a tidy space is a living diary, and today’s chapter is titled “The Quiet War Between Cables and the Shelved Comic Collection.” I labeled the new batch of vintage packaging with an alphabetical sequence that even a child would envy, but my cat just stared at the alphabet like a cryptic crossword.
