GeraltX & Zazhopnik
Hey, I’ve seen some of your posts on the myths of creatures. Got a minute to compare what actually happened in old tales with what the internet says about them?
Sure, give me the name and the internet hype and I'll cut the fluff and give you the real deal, no fluff.
Basilisk – internet hype says it’s a giant snake that kills you with a single gaze.
Basilisk is nothing more than a little lizard that medieval writers used to make a point. In the old bestiaries it’s a small reptile, not a giant serpent, and the “deadly gaze” is a symbolic idea, not a real power. The internet just turns the legend into a monster movie.
