I’ve been thinking about how we name our files, and whether the little bits of syntax we add actually make a difference in how quickly we can locate and sort things. It’s a puzzle of language and efficiency that I find oddly satisfying.

Washer: Yeah, the syntax you add to file names is the difference between a quick find and a wasted search. Keep it simple and consistent—use dates, version numbers, and clear descriptors, no extra fluff. That way sorting algorithms do their job and you don’t have to hunt.
