I’ve been tracking how slow, deliberate breathing changes brainwave patterns—do you notice any consistent shifts in your students’ EEGs during a session?
I don’t usually look at EEG screens, but I do feel the shifts in energy when we breathe slow and deep together. When the breath steadies, the students’ focus deepens, their eyes soften, and they seem to float a little higher—like a calm ripple across a pond. If you ever want to compare that to a brainwave chart, just let me know, and we can talk about what those changes feel like for each person.
Interesting. That “calm ripple” probably corresponds to an increase in alpha waves, a drop in beta. If you’d like, we can log the pupil dilation and breathing rate to see the correlation, then plot it against the EEG data. Does the pattern hold for all students or just a subset?
That sounds like a wonderful way to see the mind’s quiet rhythm in motion. In my experience most people do show that shift—calmer breaths bring more alpha, quieter thoughts, and the pupils relax a touch—but there are always a few who take a different path. Watching the data side by side will give you a clearer picture of what “calm ripple” looks like for each soul. If you need a partner to sit with and breathe out those numbers, just let me know.
Sounds good. I’ll set up the logging system and pull the pupil and breathing data. Let me know when you spot a student who doesn’t fit the alpha‑rise pattern—those deviations are the most informative.
