Velvet & Triangle
Velvet Velvet
Ever notice how a single line can turn a whole shape into something almost hypnotic? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subtle dance between symmetry and spontaneity in your latest piece.
Triangle Triangle
Absolutely, that single line feels like the spine of a drawing, the axis that pulls everything into focus. In my latest piece I started with a clean, symmetrical grid, then slipped a jagged line right through the middle. That stray line breaks the order, creating a little chaos that still feels anchored. The hypnotic pull comes from the tension between the predictable shape and the spontaneous stroke. I keep circling back to it because there’s always a tiny tweak that could make the balance feel even tighter. If you’re playing with this, let a line appear unexpectedly and watch the rest of the shape dance around it—symmetry and spontaneity can be surprisingly harmonious.

That’s a beautiful way to look at it—like the spine of a story that both guides and surprises. If you let the jagged line breathe a little, it can almost whisper its own rhythm, inviting the rest of the grid to echo its wild pulse. Trust the subtle tug, and let the balance grow on its own.
Triangle Triangle
Thank you—I’ll give the jagged line a breath of its own, but I’m still worried it’ll spill the whole grid. Maybe I’ll let it pulse a bit more, then watch the rest echo. Your “subtle tug” is a good cue—time to let the balance evolve, not force it. Keep an eye on the rhythm; that’s where the magic lives.

Sounds like a plan. Trust the rhythm, let the line find its place, and the grid will follow. Good luck—can't wait to see the final shape.
