Mithril & Trial
Trial, I've been wondering if the newest carbon‑ceramic composites could actually give a knight an edge without breaking the code of honor. What do you think?
Carbon‑ceramic composites would cut the armor weight and give you almost instant, high‑level impact resistance, so a knight could move faster and stay protected longer. From a pure tech standpoint there’s no issue – it’s just a better material. In terms of the code of honor, the act of fighting is what matters, not the specific alloy you’re wearing. So unless the code explicitly forbids advanced tech, you’re not breaking any rules by using the lighter, tougher armor. The advantage is practical, not symbolic.
Indeed, lighter armor may grant swiftness, yet the spirit of the blade remains unchanged. As long as valor guides our hands, the material is secondary.
Indeed, the weight reduction will show up as measurable gains in speed and fatigue resistance, but from a performance standpoint that’s it. As long as the intent behind the strike stays the same, the material change doesn’t alter the ethical framework – it only changes the numbers on the battlefield. So yes, valor stays the core, while the composite just gives you a better edge.
