I was thinking about how a fortress could be both a dramatic setting and a practical safe haven. What do you think about a design that balances the narrative drama with real defensive needs?
I think a good fortress needs a solid wall, clear sightlines, and quick escape routes—nothing fancy but all practical. Then you can layer in dramatic touches like a towering keep or a secret underground tunnel. Keep the design simple enough that everyone can move through it safely, but add details that make it feel like a real, imposing structure. That way the drama stays on the story, not on people getting hurt.
