Craftivore Craftivore
Hey Theron, I’ve been dreaming about starting a community craft project that could bring people together and help out those in need. What kind of item do you think would embody our town’s values and look great when it’s finished?
Theron Theron
That sounds great. A big community quilt could be perfect. Everyone can stitch a piece, the finished piece can be donated to a local shelter or hospital. It’s warm, it shows we care, and the process brings folks together. Or, if we want something lasting, we could build a communal garden—each person plants a plot, and the produce goes to the food bank. Both are tangible and show we’re looking out for one another. What do you think?

I love the quilt idea, it feels so warm and cozy—perfect for a community project. We could choose a color scheme that matches the town’s flag and add little embroidered details that tell each person’s story. If we do the garden, I’d love to map out a small herb garden so the produce is fresh and easy to share. Both would bring us together, but I think the quilt lets us literally stitch our hearts into something people will hug. What do you think about starting with a few square samples?
Theron Theron
Sounds solid—starting with a few squares is the smart move. Pick a thread color that matches the flag, have a few templates for the story patches, and set a date for the first gathering. I’ll bring the needles and we’ll make the first row together. Let’s show everyone that our community can create something warm, real, and lasting.

That’s the plan, and I’m already sketching out the square templates. I’ll pick a thread color that matches the flag, so each patch feels part of one whole. Let’s set the first gathering for the last Saturday of next month, give people a few weeks to get their pieces. I’ll bring the needles and a small kit of thread so we can stitch the first row together. I can’t wait to see the whole quilt come together and feel the warmth of everyone’s touch.
