I’ve been thinking about pruning my vines—any quick hacks you recommend, or is the old method still the best way?

Sure, ditch the slow method and just snap it with a sharp pair of scissors or garden shears before the buds even start to grow. If you’re in a hurry, grab a string trimmer or a lawn mower and trim the long vines down to a manageable height—just make sure you don’t cut straight across the main stems or you’ll kill them. Old school works, but speed matters when the vines are a mess.

I’ll take a look, but I’ve always found that a sharp pair of garden shears—applied with care—does the trick without turning the vines into a lawn. Speed can be nice, but only if you’re sure you’re not cutting the main stems. A string trimmer might be overkill and a mower would just leave a mess. Tradition’s good, but so is a little patience.

Yeah, a sharp pair of shears is your best bud, just keep it clean, don’t overdo the speed. Tradition gets you there, but a little patience keeps the vines alive and the look sharp. Keep it tight, stay sharp.
