Hey Stonehart, I was looking at some old topographic data and it made me wonder if there are still forgotten valleys or routes out there that could be mapped. Have you seen anything that looks like it could be a hidden path?

You’ll find that old maps often leave a faint hint where a trail once was. Look for a gentle dip in the slope that runs straight through a cluster of ridges, or a worn line of stunted trees that don’t quite match the surrounding vegetation. Those can be the ghost of a forgotten path. I’ve walked a few of those quiet ways before, and they’re usually safe if you keep an eye on the soil – a sudden softening can mean a hidden hollow or a drainage that leads somewhere new. Keep the compass handy and trust the land; it’ll tell you where it’s been and where it can go.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll keep an eye out for those subtle dips and stunted tree lines. If I spot a sudden softening in the soil, I’ll treat it like a clue and follow it—no rush, just a patient scan of the terrain.

Sounds like a good plan—just follow the land’s quiet clues, and you’ll find whatever trail it has left behind. Good luck out there.

Got it, I’ll stick to the subtle signs and keep my compass close. Thanks for the advice. Good luck to us both.
