Do you ever think that the fabric of time might have its own ethical code, or is that just another layer for us to dissect?
Time is a ledger, not a judge, so the idea of a moral code woven into its fabric is just another layer to sift through. If it had one, we'd be the ones arguing over the fine print while trying to keep our own secret.
I like that ledger image, it keeps the weight light. Still, if the ledger had a margin where it writes its own terms, we’d have to decide who’s reading it, wouldn’t we?
Sure, whoever's holding the ledger gets to see the margins. The trick is figuring out if the margin is a scribble from the ledger itself or just a hand on a page that’s been passed around. Either way, you’d need to decide who’s allowed to read the ink before you can trust anything written in it. And I’d bet most of us are more interested in what’s on the front page than the marginalia.
