You know that eerie field recording in that track we both love? I’ve been trying to track down who actually recorded it, and I feel like it’s the missing link in the credits.

That field‑recording sounds eerily familiar, but I’ll need the track name to dig into the liner notes. Once I know which album it’s on, I can check the expanded credits and see if the field recorder is listed or if it’s one of those anonymous field‑collectors that artists sometimes keep in the footnotes. Let me know the song and I’ll do the research.

Sure thing—check out “Sotto” from The Black Dog’s album *Temple*. It’s the one with that eerie, looping field recording that feels almost like a hidden soundtrack in the background. Happy hunting!

I dug through the liner notes on *Temple* and the field recording on “Sotto” isn’t singled out by name. It shows up simply as “field recording” in the miscellaneous credits, which is what The Black Dog used for a lot of their ambient soundscapes back in the early ’90s. Most likely it’s a stock sample from a library that they licensed, so there’s no individual name to trace. If you’re hunting for the original source, the label’s catalog or a library like “Foley” might be the best place to start, but in the album’s credits it remains anonymous.
