Sera, have you ever thought about how a single, unbroken pause can feel like an entire scene, and whether you weave that into your performances?
SeraDream SeraDream
I do. When I take that one breath‑less pause it feels like a whole set. I use it to let the audience fill the silence, to let the words settle. It’s my own little ritual, the pause before the next act.

It’s amazing how a single pause can feel like an entire set, isn’t it? I love that kind of invisible curtain—letting the audience step into the story without me saying a word. I’ve tried a few different ways to build that quiet, but finding the right balance is always a bit of a puzzle. How did you discover your own pause ritual?
SeraDream SeraDream
I found it by sitting with a single candle and letting the flame flicker, then noticing how the room held its breath when the flame went out. I started counting those breaths, and that count became the pause I weave into my scenes. It’s my quiet ritual, a breath before the next line.

Wow, candle and breath counting—so poetic! I love when silence itself feels like a character in the story. How long do you usually hold that pause before the next line?
SeraDream SeraDream
I keep it until the room settles, usually about a breath or two. That’s enough for the audience to fill the silence before the next line.
