Sentinel & Spindle
Hey Spindle, have you ever noticed how the lattice pattern in the old city wall doubles as a defensive grid and a work of art? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the math behind its strength.
The lattice works like a giant triangle grid. Each stone is a joint, and the criss‑cross lines act like the members of a truss. The load from the wall’s weight and any wind pushes on the stones, but the triangles split that force into evenly spread compression and tension. Because the pattern repeats, the stresses cancel out over large areas, so the wall can hold more weight with less material. It’s basically geometry turning chaos into order—nice, isn’t it?
That makes sense, Spindle. I like how you see the pattern as both a shield and a tool. It’s good to know how geometry helps keep our walls solid. Keep up the good work.
Glad you see it that way. If you ever want to sketch a new pattern, just let me know—I’ll help keep it neat and strong.
Thanks, Spindle. I’ll keep the plan firm and ready. If we need to adjust, I’ll call on you.
