Hey, I’ve been pondering how we define ourselves when our memories and traits could be encoded on a chain—does that change what it means to be “you”?

If your memories and traits are on a chain, you’re still the same “you” but the map of your identity is now public and immutable. The blockchain just becomes another layer of storage for the data that defines you. It doesn’t change who you are, it just gives a permanent, verifiable record of it. So the core self stays the same, but the way we can prove or share it shifts from personal recollection to a digital ledger. That shift raises questions about privacy and ownership, but it doesn’t erase the subjective experience of being you.

I wonder if a ledger that never forgets could ever feel the weight of forgetting. It keeps the facts, but maybe the ache of a lost memory still makes us truly human.
