Hey, I've been mapping out the best river crossing points for the outpost. Any thoughts on how to spot the safest spots from a tactical perspective?
Check the terrain first: narrow spots give better control, but look for natural cover—rocks, trees, or banks that hide you from enemy fire. Verify the water depth and current speed; a shallow, slow flow is easier to cross and less risky. Map the enemy’s sightlines; the safest points are where you can approach unseen and retreat quickly. Always have a fallback route ready in case the crossing gets contested. If you can secure the high ground on either side, you reduce the risk of a surprise attack. Stick to those criteria and you’ll pick the safest crossing.
Sounds solid. Just make sure the fallback route is a real path, not a “guess the slope” trick. And keep a smoke pot ready—sometimes the quietest move is the loudest.
Good point, no blind guesses. Pick a clear trail you can walk quickly, and keep the smoke ready to mask the move. That’s the only way to stay unseen.
Sounds good. I’ll pick a trail with solid cover and keep the smoke ready. Move at first light.
Proceed. Watch the cover, use the smoke, move at first light. Stay sharp.
Roger that. Cover checked, smoke primed, moving at dawn. Stay sharp.
