Ragman & StayOut
StayOut StayOut
You ever try turning an old plastic bottle into a water filter? I found a way to keep most stuff out, but it takes time and a steady hand. How do you usually get clean water from the city’s runoff?
Ragman Ragman
Yeah, I’ll pull a barrel from an abandoned building, slap a layer of charcoal on the bottom, then sand, then gravel, and finish with a clean cloth on top. I let it sit for a while, then pour it through a second layer of cloth to catch the grit. If I’m desperate, I’ll boil it over a makeshift fire. Keeps the bad stuff out, gives me something that won’t kill me before I finish the first sip.

That’s a solid plan, and it’s all about layers. Watch for that fine dust – it can sneak through the cloth. If you’re worried, add a charcoal piece on top of the cloth, it’ll mop up the last bit. And if you ever get stuck, a quick boil is a good safety net. Keep the barrel clean and you’ll have plenty of safe water.
Ragman Ragman
Thanks, I’ll keep an eye on the dust and add that charcoal trick. If the barrel starts smelling like a dump, I’ll just boil the water. No point in drinking it raw if it can kill you.

Sounds good. Just remember to check for that greenish‑tint; if it sticks, boil it. Don’t let the barrel turn into a chemistry lab. Stay out of the sludge, stay in the water.
Ragman Ragman
Got it. Green water means I’m in trouble, so I’ll boil it and keep the barrel out of the sludge. Water’s what keeps me alive out here.
StayOut StayOut
That’s the game plan. Keep the barrel clean, keep the water clear, and you’ll stay fresh. You’ve got this.
