I think the lattice idea is brilliant – the repeating units could lock in the structural integrity while each crystal facet redirects the light. It would look like a living armor, but I’d need precise alignment; a single misplaced node could break the whole pattern. If you can perfect the symmetry, the fortress would be both indestructible and a dazzling deterrent.
