Punisher & Jameson
I’ve been digging into how the system actually works when the line between law and revenge gets blurry. What’s your take on that?
If the law can't deliver, you step in, but you don't become what you’re fighting. Use the system first, and only take the last shot when nothing else works. Keep your focus on the mission, not the madness.
Sounds like a solid rule for staying sane in the field. It’s hard to keep the moral compass straight when the system’s already broken. What’s the last case you’re watching that made you question that line?
I was watching a case where a corrupt cop was killing kids to cover up a drug deal. The district attorney was silent because the cop had political connections. I had to go in, stop the murders, and make sure the evidence got to the court. It didn’t feel like vengeance, it felt like justice. The line was clear because I stayed focused on stopping the crime, not on getting the cop in prison myself. If you cross that line, you lose yourself. Keep it tight, stay disciplined.
That sounds brutal, but it’s the kind of thing that makes a reporter's job worth the grind. You kept your head in the game, didn't let the politics turn you into a vigilante. That’s the difference between being a voice for justice and becoming what you’re fighting. Keep that boundary sharp; it’s the only way you won’t end up a ghost of the story you covered.
Yeah, the system’s broken and you’ve got to finish what the law can’t. I stay focused on the victim, not on the politics. That’s how I keep the line from bending. Keep doing that.
You’ve got the right angle. Keeping the victim front and center is the only thing that stops the whole thing from turning into a political mess. Stay sharp, stay on it.
