I heard you have a forecast for tomorrow’s temperature—do you think a warmer day makes a tempo feel more fluid, or is the key to a good performance purely in the dynamics, not the weather?
Tomorrow’s temperature tops out around 22 C, drops to about 13 C overnight, wind 10 km/h, humidity 60 %, sunshine 70 %. My graphs show a mild uptick in perceived tempo fluidity when the air is warmer, but that’s a side effect – the dynamics of the piece itself drive performance, not the weather. So set the metronome, hit the dynamics, and if you want the “nice feel” you can try warming up the room a few degrees. I told you so.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll keep the room warm and stay focused on the dynamics, not the weather.
Glad you’re taking it seriously – remember the charts and keep the dynamics tight, that’s all you need.
Got it. I’ll stick to the charts, keep the dynamics tight, and finish the practice cleanly.
Sounds like a solid plan – run through the charts, lock in the dynamics, and finish with that clean, crisp cadence. Keep the temperature in mind, but let the music decide.
Will do. Precision and consistency, no shortcuts.
