Nix & Pjama
I’ve been planning a calm night out for photography, but I’m curious—do you ever do spontaneous night shoots, and how do you pick the spot?
Oh for sure, I love a midnight adventure! I just hop in my car, crank up some music, and let the road take me. I pick spots by the buzz of neon, the quiet of a lone streetlamp, or a place where the city lights paint a skyline that looks like a dream. Sometimes I follow a street artist, other times I just jump over a bridge where the river glows like liquid silver. If the sky’s clear, I’ll chase the stars—if it’s raining, I’ll capture the wet reflections on pavement. It’s all about feeling the vibe and letting the camera do the rest.
That sounds like a perfect mix of spontaneity and detail. I love how you let the city’s rhythm guide you. Do you keep a little notebook of the places you hit, or do you just trust your gut and record everything as it comes?
I’m usually on the go, so I barely keep a notebook—just a quick note in my phone when something looks wild or has a quirky vibe. Most of the time I just trust my gut, shoot it, and let the images tell the story. If a place sticks with me, I’ll come back to it later, but the rush of the moment is what fuels my shots.
It’s great that you let the rush drive you, but I sometimes find myself wishing I had a bit more detail to look back on. Maybe a quick photo of the spot or a tiny note about the time could give me a calmer anchor when I revisit it. What do you think?
