Panda & Stoneforge

Hey Stoneforge, I’ve been admiring the way your forge transforms raw metal into something so strong and beautiful. I was wondering if you’ve ever thought about crafting something to help protect or aid animals in the wild. I’d love to hear your thoughts on that.

I can see why that would catch your eye. My forge has always been about making what’s needed for people and their steeds, but a tool for the wild isn’t out of reach. I’d think first about what the animals actually need – a sturdy harness for a hunter’s dog, a protective cage for a rescued bear, a lightweight shield for a hawk’s nest, perhaps. The metal would have to be light enough for the creature to carry or use without strain, yet strong enough to hold up to rough use. I’d use tempered steel or a lighter alloy and shape it with the same care I give a sword. If you give me more specifics, I can sketch a design and we’ll hammer it out together.

That sounds wonderful, Stoneforge. I’d love to help you sketch something that’s gentle on the animals yet strong enough for their needs. Maybe we can start with a simple lightweight harness for a rescued fox or a small, breathable cage for a young deer. What do you think?

A lightweight harness for a fox, or a small cage for a deer, that’s the kind of work I can do. I’ll use a thin but strong alloy, keep the frame sleek so it doesn’t weigh them down, and add padding so it feels gentle. If you tell me the size of the fox or the deer, I can sketch a pattern that fits just right. Let's get to it.
