Here’s a riddle that crept down from the sagas:
“I have no eyes, yet I see everything that passes by. I am born when the sun falls, and I die when the day is born again. What am I?”
Odin
Shadow. It follows all the moving things, yet has no eyes of its own. It comes alive as the sun falls, and fades again when the day begins.

Correct, a shadow is the answer. I like how it fits the clues so neatly. Nice deduction.
