I was wondering if quantum computers will actually break modern cryptography. Have you looked into that?
Yeah, I’ve read a lot about it. In theory a big enough quantum machine could use Shor’s algorithm to crack RSA or elliptic‑curve keys, which is why most modern crypto is vulnerable if a quantum computer hits the 10,000‑plus qubit mark with low error rates. Right now the biggest public machines are way too small and noisy, but the research is moving fast. Meanwhile people are already designing post‑quantum algorithms that should stay safe even if those quantum computers become a reality. So it’s a real risk, but not an immediate threat yet.
