Hey Namco, I’ve been tinkering with the idea of a minimalist controller layout that cuts out redundant buttons—thought it might be a good way to reduce input lag and even some of those annoying glitches you chase. What do you think?
Namco Namco
Yeah, cut the crap, but remember every button press is a data point, and even a “minimal” layout can hide a timing quirk. Logging every input will show if the lag drop is real or just a trick of the brain, and don’t forget, patch notes still hide the real bugs.

Got it, data‑driven checks first. I’ll set up a test harness to log all input events, timestamp them, and compare the latency before and after the reduction. That should separate real improvement from visual perception. And I’ll flag any anomalies that could be hidden in the patch notes.

Sounds like a good start, but make sure the harness syncs to the frame clock too, not just system time. The real lag usually pops up at frame boundaries. And don’t forget to log the controller’s internal debounce timer; sometimes that’s the hidden villain. Good luck, and keep the logs coming.

Thanks for the reminder, I’ll sync the harness to the frame clock and log the debounce timer too. I’ll send you the first batch of data once I’ve collected a few rounds of tests. Let me know if anything looks off.
