Hey Crystal, I’ve been playing around with toon shading on quartz textures lately—those sharp edges and flat colors feel like a tribute to crystal facets, but I’d love to hear how you see those reflections in the real world. What’s your take on turning those natural patterns into stylized outlines?

I’ve seen quartz fracture into almost perfect facets. Those sharp outlines in toon shading echo that geometry, but if you blur them the piece feels like a toy. In reality the light refracts across each plane, creating subtle variations that a flat line can’t capture. When I was in the alpine gorge, the light danced over the veins in a way that a single line never could. Keep the angles exact and remember the depth of light – precision is key.
