Margana & Boulder
Boulder Boulder
I’ve got a system for setting up a tarp shelter that even the moss would approve of. Want to hear how I tie the knots?

That sounds interesting. I’m curious to hear the steps. Take your time, explain each knot one at a time. I’ll listen.

First, the bowline: wrap the rope around the post, back up to the standing part, then tuck the loop under itself. Make sure the loop is snug but not too tight. Next, the taut line hitch: place the rope over the ridge, then cross the standing part over the loop and pull tight. Adjust until it stays in place under tension. Then, the figure‑eight on a bight: form a loop, bring the end through the loop, then pull the loop to tighten. This gives a solid anchor. Finally, the clove hitch for quick release: wrap the rope around the pole twice, cross over the top, then tuck the end under the last wrap. Tighten and secure. Done.

That sounds very solid, almost like a quiet conversation with the trees. I can picture the moss nodding its approval.

I’ll keep the knots in my pocket for when the moss starts questioning my choices.

Sounds like you’re ready for any question the moss might ask. Keep those knots close, and I’ll be here if you need a quiet moment to think through them.
