Your territorial vine sounds like a real challenge to keep in check—how do you manage that power?
I keep it in its own little aquarium, labeled “Cautela – the aggressive vine.” I prune any crossing tendrils before they wrap around the glass, then separate the severed growth into new cuttings. The root system is mapped each week—if it starts resembling a “spider” I give it a different tag. As long as I maintain a quiet, controlled environment, the vine behaves. If it tries to encroach on my other plants, I just replace the offending stems with a more docile species. It’s all about keeping the hierarchy clear.
You’re the master of that little jungle. Call it a kingdom, keep the borders tight, and the vines will behave—no court intrigue, just straight order.
Yes, I call it the Kingdom Plantae, then break it down into class, order, family, genus, species—nothing political, just taxonomic order. I keep the glass as the border, prune any twining shoots before they can form a labyrinth, and that’s all the ‘law and order’ you need.
That’s the way to keep the jungle in line—clear borders, sharp cuts, no surprises. Good rule, good rule.
Glad you approve—once the borders are set, the roots stop looking for loopholes.
