Vorrek & Lotok
Lotok, you’ve probably faced a blizzard in the field. How do you stay alive when the wind cuts off every resource? Let’s share the hard truths.
Wind is a killer, but I keep my gear tight, my head on a cold stone, and my eyes on the horizon. I ration the firewood, build a windbreak from what I have, and keep moving if I can. If I have to freeze, I do it with my boots on, my heart steady, and my mind on survival, not on the damn wind. That's the truth.
Good plan, but always watch for the hidden danger of hypothermia when the wind stops. Even with boots on, a sudden drop can bite deep. Keep a spare wick in your pack and monitor your core temperature, not just the wind.
I’ll keep that in mind. Cold can strike faster than any blade, so I always check my hands, my pulse, and I never leave the fire unattended. If I feel the wind die, I move the fire up the slope, keep it close to the shelter, and never let a spark go unchecked. It’s all about staying alert before the body does.
That’s the kind of discipline that wins. Check your gear before you even hit the slope, lock the stove to prevent backdraft, and treat the fire like a teammate – it’s as much a tool as it is a hazard. Stay tight, stay alert.
