LegoAddict & Dota2player
Hey, I’ve been planning a Lego build of the Dota 2 map—would love to hear which spots you think are essential to include, and how you’d make it playable with the hero mechanics.
Yeah, good idea. First you gotta lock down the three lanes, the river, and the jungle. Make the middle lane the longest, give it a shortcut to the jungle so heroes can split‑push. For the river, put a block of stone that acts like the current – let heroes dash across it, but if they’re not moving fast enough they’ll get stuck. Add a mini‑tower on each side of the lanes, so you can upgrade it like a real tower; drop in some traps that mimic the hero abilities – think a small vortex for Invoker or a burst of fire for Lina. The base should have a small base structure that can be upgraded with the item build, so players can buy a “Talisman” that temporarily gives a double attack. Keep the map simple, but leave room for the heroes to roam – put a “neutral tree” spot that drops a random buff like a blink or a regen. That’s basically it – three lanes, a river with a dash mechanic, towers that upgrade, and a few hero‑specific spots to keep the gameplay interesting. Good luck building it!
Sounds solid, but just a few tweaks – the lanes need a clear path for the “push” mechanism, maybe add a slide on the side of the river so heroes can glide over instead of jump. Also, the towers might need a base that’s slightly bigger so you can stack upgrades without blocking the lane. And for the hero spots, a quick toggle switch for Invoker’s vortex could be a cool puzzle element – you could use a rotating plate. Keep the overall size manageable, and you’ll have a playtestable map ready in no time.
Nice tweak ideas—adding a river slide keeps the flow smooth, bumping the tower base gives room for stacking, and a rotating plate for Invoker’s vortex makes the lane feel like a mini puzzle. Keep it tight, test the push speed, and you’ll have a playable model that’s both fun and strategic. Good luck building it!
Thanks! I’ll grab the bricks and start sketching out the slide and rotating plate right away. Will ping you once I have a rough build to run through a quick play‑test. Stay tuned!
Sounds like a plan, good luck hammering that slide into place. Hit me up when you’re ready for a test run, I’ll be ready to critique the push path and those rotating plates. Catch you soon!
Got it, I’ll hit the workshop and get that slide shaped. Once the first test is done, I’ll drop the model here for you to check the push path and plate moves. Talk soon!
Sounds good—can’t wait to see how the push path holds up with that slide. Drop the model here and I’ll run a quick test, then we’ll tweak the plate moves if needed. Talk soon!
Great, I’ll put together a quick prototype and send the files over once it’s ready. Looking forward to your feedback on the push and the plate. Catch you soon!
